    Sanyo Batteries - Sanyo

    Hello Group, $1.00 ea.

    I found this battery SANYO HR4/3AU NIMH 344/3A 4000MAH
and the price is a bit hard to pass at $1.00 each.
Can anyone tell me if this is a good brand of battery?
If anyone is interested please respond?

I'd like to air my views on Sanyo cells.

I've used different brands of high grade cells in the last 10 years, including GP, Panasonic, KAN, Intellect and SANYO.

In my community Sanyo was a sole leader in quality cells for years. None of the other brands even came close in specs, but over the last years GP (Gold Peak) has shown remarkable progress. In the beginning GP suffered from high internal resistance affecting charge and discharge characteristics. Their NiMh cells were also highly affected by even moderate cold.

Over the last few years, beeing an old Sanyo fan, I must admit that GP got their act togeather and is now a fair competitor for Sanyo.

That offer you've got there sounds to me like something one should not pass up.

      the photo says 2700 mAh,

the photo says 2700 mAh, and that would be fair for $1 us,
I have not yet seen 4000 mAh AA cells.
      be careful what you buy.

        I dug around a bit...

The 4000 mAh NiMh Sanyo HR-4/3AU has the following datasheet]HR-4/3AU datasheet[/url]

Soo... either the photo on that page is wrong, or the title is wrong. I guess you have to mail them to find out.

If the advertised cell is the one in the datasheet above, I would not draw more than 4 amps from this kind of cell. It has an internal resistance of 20 mOhm.

I have no idea of what specifications or boat you have, but if its an underwater rocket I would power them with these, as they easily drop 15 amps.
