Steve Neill is comming out with a line af vac-u-formed kits that should be good if you are not afraid to do some cutting and assembling and big dave is going to supply some wtc for these. I think that you coulge get that setup for a good price.
Atomic Subs has Thor kits for sell. You can get the Permit hull, WTC, and electronics for under 1 grand I belive. I have the on-line directions for the Permit and it doesn't seem to look to difficult. I own a Thor Alfa, but due to money restrictions right now I haven't been able to start it or get the WTC and electronics. Hopefully in the next month or so I can get started, for now I will just keep playing with my Dumas Akula. I belive the website is www.atomicsubs.com
How much building do you want to do?
ALBACORE is available with *everything* you need for under $700 but, you gotta build.
SWM kits are ~$800, but you need to buy a radio and other support equipment (mainly propel). Almost no building.
Atomic Subs PERMIT can be had complete, but you're probably over your limit *and* you have that pesky building and support equip.
SubTech also has a variant of the Dumas AKULA. Similar to ALBACORE, it can be had complete, but now your back to building.
Kinda like IKEA, you save money when you put it together yourself....
Me? I like building...
Noticed that you're in E. Providence. You should consider stopping in at the next SubRon 4 meeting. Third Sat of the month at the War Memorial Park in Johnston. Go and pick brains before you buy...
i'm looking for a complete readyset with minimal building because i suck at soldering and glueing, also i am looking for a wwII era model . If all fails i'll buy one of those u-boats even though i'm guaranteed to F!@k it up.
