Quite a bit bigger than mine then.

I scaled mine twice the size of the AMT/ERTL kit, so it works out at about 17-18" long.

      Okay, thread hijack over.

The pink slugs all they need are slime trails.
Top & bottom of my sub. The one with the
          eye is the bottom half.

Finally broke down and purchased a hot wire foam cutter.
Next job is to glue the pieces together. Will probable use
white glue (PVA) unless I stumble onto some 3M-77 others
have used. What stores would you look for this glue at?

Be very careful about what you glue the foam to. I glued mine to thin plexiglass and it warped.
Store photos and docs online. Access them from any PC, Mac or phone. Create and work together on Word, Excel or PowerPoint documents.

My second attepmt has stalled in favor of less dusty projects. I will probably resume work in a month or so. Here is what it may look like]http://groups.msn.com/ModelersAndHobbyForum/modeltsar.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=638[/url]

I recommend keeping your halves separate and checking them against something you know is flat every now and then.

            Good luck!

Good advice on the possibility of warping.
It will probably be awhile before I get a
chance to glue the pieces together

Re: The great adventure of building a Nautilus! - Here is a atte

Don't know if anyone is watching this thread anymore, but thought I'd add a bit about foam. There was a company called Jiffy Foam who made available polyurethane foam sheets in any thickness and density. I've used the stuff for many years for 1/6th scale figure diorama walls and such. A little messy carving and sanding but smooths out beautifully and can take any based paint. To give it a really tough skin I paint on a layer of Envirotex clear casting resin available at any Hobby Lobby or the like. It soaks in and dries rock hard.
                I'm just saying.
Hey, does anyone know if young ladies still fall for going out to the submarine races? Figured you guys would know.

Started on this sub in 2006. Did a little more work on it recently.

Some more pictures. Got my son Zac to do a little artwork for the project. The deck is what he is working on.

Since the plastic was from a shower surround caulk seemed a good adhesive and it should not attack the foam insulation.

The green curved surface was made from soda bottle. Also attached with caulk.

                            Scott!

Great progress! Good to see you never gave up. I haven't given up on mine either. But my boat has been sidelined for a while due to lack of space. I do hope to live long enough to complete her though.

                            Keep us posted!
