Finally got the Sushi in the water for some ballasting and trials. This little beastie is so much fun!!! It can be a real handful if you are not careful. With the X-tail she turns like it is a F1 car. I was doing high-speed donuts about two feet down that were making me dizzy(er).
It still needs a little more tweaking but I am very happy. I am thinking of doing a construction article for the SCR. I want to thank Paul and Don for their help yesterday. BD. Photos to follow!

I finally got to test the Sushi with the new motor. I put in a speed 700 that the Germans used in their boats. I can say with all honesty that it scarred the crap out of me. My hands were shaking!! In a one second burst of full power it shot about 18'. I then decided not to continue testing in the 18x 33' pool. The pool owner was very happy about that! More testing to follow in a pond. BD.

Funny you should ask Pete.
I was using an older ESC that had very poor low speed and the sub was hard to control with the big motor. I am very limited to the ESC I can use as it has to be high voltage, high current, and have low speed priority. I picked up an Astro Flight that was good for 30 amps continuous and thought it would be fine. We did power measurements with my friends Astro-Watt meter and found the motor is drawing about 40 amps. Ouch!! My only choice as I could see it was to pay the big bucks and buy the best. MCD SC-480. I should just be able to fit it inside. It's rated at 80 amps continuous 160 surge and is water-cooled. MCD makes the best ESC's as far as I am concerned. This will do it. BD.

MCD's - Dan Sinstead will be at the regatta this year with his display after a few years absence. He will be able to show you all the great electronics he sells for RC!
That’s great news Tim!
I owe Don a new ESC for the SC-480 he let me have for the Sushi. I don't want to have Patty come collecting. Ha!! Dan's products are the best and he stands behind them 100%. You can get your props spinning so slow with his ESC's that you can have a beer before it does one revolution.
BD.

Hi Guys,
I am working on getting the video. There are two I know of, plus some underwater stuff I believe by Ben. It was a short run before she broke, but it was a HOOTE!! I dorked the bottom a few times and broke one of the X-tails and bent the prop!!
I need to shorten the tails (Way to much control) and add more protection for them. I hope someone captured one of the standing start accelerations. I did hear a few Holly Ship's coming from behind me!! The problem was the shallow water and crazy driver.
Not a good combination.
Hey Paul! Maybe you can post the photo of the prop spray you took later. BD.
