    #### its salty!!!!!

    Hello all,
today Nikki & I went to Poole park, near to where I work in the operating theatre.
We took with us, Nikki's 1/72nd HMCS Snowberry - into what appears to be salt water!!!
Sod it!!!! I knew it was too good to be true... The water is nearly clear on some days too
Looks like a lovely venue for it though, dont you think?

Sorry the picture is so big,

    Paul.

    You can run your sub

You can run your sub there, just make sure you have an antenna that's shielded from the water and projects above the surface, or use a bouy.

      Hi Paul & Nikki,

      Hope you

      Hi Paul & Nikki,

Hope you are both well and building something for a spring launch.
Lovely sunset you've got there (It is even nicer in Cumbria )
That's a nice pond and quite large (You need a Pinger!)
I would be a little bit concerned about operating subs in salt. Any drip onto electonics is so much moe damaging than fresh.
Looks like a very good place for "targets" though.

        Hi Y'all,

        I run my subs

        Hi Y'all,

I run my subs in salt water every Saturday! the Model Boat Pond here in San Diego is tidal fed from Mission Bay. I use a whip antenna made simply enough from brass wire shielded with heat shrink tubing. So long as 1/2 inch projects above the surface I get good signal. I have had the inevitable flooding too and had very lttle damage (the trick is to disassemble and flush with fresh water soon after).
Running in salt water does have risk, but so does running in a deep lake. I like to say I have great bragging rights because my boats run in the real element of real submarines.
I say go for it, you wont regret it.
        Take Care,
        Steve

          is that poole in dorset?.

is that poole in dorset?. i know that lake, i spent an hour or more (well it seemed that long) when i was young. I had bought a toy yacht and had set a short tack for it accross the corner of the pond. it would just whip accross, and i had time to run accross and catch it. inevitably the wind changed slighlty and send it on a mission accross the pond, the mechanism for holding a straight course wasnt very good and for an age it just went side to side. happy days
