Hi guys, I would like to ask your advice on putting a Reed switch (hope that is the correct spelling ! ) into the OTW Trafalgar class sub I am building. It is equipped with Bob Dimmacks excellent WTC which runs on a 12 Volt system. Is it possible to use a Reed switch to turn the power on and off without having to open the WTC everytime ? If so, what sort of switches would you recommend, as I was told that the small one I bought at Radio shack was more suited to switching a lamp on and off, than the system in my boat.....any and all advice would be much appreciated.

Nice circuit - should work
Nice circuit - should work well.
On the simpler side, if you have a flat surface on the WTC you could use a standard toggle switch (which will easily handle the current you're going to draw, unlike a standalone reed switch) with a waterproof hood. This just requires a small hole in the WTC, around which I run a small bead of silicon on both sides before screwing in the switch & fastening nuts. I then fill the head of the waterproof hood with vaseline (petroleum jelly) and screw it down onto the WTC over the switch. Works nicely on several subs
