    1/2 hour vs 1 hour epoxy..am I screwed???

    Well, to make a long story short, I used a high quality 1/2 hour epoxy on my Engel Lafayette bayonet rings.

    I know, should have been at least a 1 hour cure or better.

    Any thoughts on whether it will suffice? It seems incredibly strong, and I prepped the rings & hull thorougly, but I see nothing short of 1 hour epoxy is recommended!

    Will it hold up???

    Lobo,

    I think you will be

    Lobo,

    I think you will be okay......

    Since this is a dry hull boat, the epoxy won't be exposed to the water. Any possible exposure where the bayonnet rings meet the outer surface of the hull would be covered with paint.

    If the epoxy is to be directly exposed to water.....then the slower the epoxy cure time, the more resistant it is to becoming soft.

      Hi Lobo,

      most of our members

      [color=#000000]Hi Lobo,

      most of our members use for that purpose "UHU plus endfest 300"

      Maybe you have a chance to buy that very good stuff in the States. If you'll use that for bajonettrings ist better to mix this Epoxi with cooton flakes und (Thixotripermittel, i am sorry. i didn't find a translation for that chemical stuff). Think about the following situation. Another sub hit yours on the place where your bajonettring is fitted. and believe, that occurs. it would be fatal, if the ring were not correctly firm
      in the past we had at many boats a very good experience with this stuff, also with heavy hits. Try it if you can.
