BEC/VR question

I am finally installing the BEC/Vr on my Albacore (its been forever- don't ask). I do have one seemingly stupid question, and I am pretty sure I know the answer, but I want to be sure before I set anything on fire.
The BEC supplied with the Albacore has four attachments, 2+ and 2-, one set comes from the battery, and has the on/off swich put between it and the battery. The other set is supposed to go to the reciever. Should I just solder a futaba type connector to the leads that come from the BEC so I can just plug it into the reciever?

Does my explination make sense?

Yes, the output from the BEC goes to your receiver. As long as you follow the directions for the plus and minus wiring, you'll be okay.

is that what most people just do, solder a futaba connector onto the output wires? I've never worked with a BE before, all the speed controls ive used have them built in (airplane stuff)...

Well, I think I should be fair and point out that there are two schools of thought around supplying power to the r/c receiver.

One is to provide an independent battery so that if the main (drive) battery dies, you can still command the ballast system and bring the boat back to the surface.

The other is that the extra battery doesn't buy you enough to worry about it, plus it takes up extra space and weight. This would appear to be especially important for smaller subs.

All that aside, if a BEC is used then adding the Futaba connector to the output side is not only the easiest way to do it, but it means that you don't need to solder wires directly to the receiver.
