New changes to my milling machine

The mill i have used to make my parts for the UBoat conversion and props for the members here is undergoing drastic changes to improve accuracy and speed
The main reason will be mastering parts for other modelers or to aid a kit manufacturer get high accuracy mirror imaged parts for their moldings
I have already made some turrets for IJN ships as test pieces in the old version of the mill and this showed some weaknesses in the design
Here is a thread detailing the new changes
    http://www.cnczone.com/forums....1&pp=15
I will be able to make tons of interesting parts now; this is also why I have been pretty quiet on this board

      A 1/350th IJN Fuso class

A 1/350th IJN Fuso class turret; in the control software; and below the software photo the cutting taking place; this was at 3100rpm
Now the spindle can go to 16000rpm

Finished part; I made it from Corian; or sometimes known as solid surfacing

If this machine works as good as I think it will; props maybe back on the menu; and way better; cut from Billet brass one piece; no more soldered together

I did more than a few the same way; thats wy I said "enough already"

I could make them 1 of 2 ways; use the4th axis and rotate as they cut the blades; or flat and turn it over after one side is cut; this would need a good jig to hold the second side; but it can be done

                  I'm really pumped tonight
The new version of my mill is now cutting material
I have my lower slidescovered so chips etc can't get into stuff
The first job is to cut the table top for the fixtures and my toolmakers vice

The cut is glass smooth and shows the limits of my travels
                  Max sizes of a part are 8.125"long X 4.125"wide X 5.75"tall
A groove will be cut now around this surface for coolant to collect in; the rest of the table will be cut slightly lower so bigger parts can overhang the edges

This is my detail mill; I also have under construction a Gantry style mill which will be 25" X 14" x 11" travels; after that a monster mill is planned (already got a ton of parts for it)
This machine will be able to make a 1/32 hull for a TypeVII Uboat in 1 set-up and have room to spare; with over 7 1/2ft of travel in one direction; 1KW servos will move the axis and a 1 1/2hp spindle will hack the material off

                    I made this name plate

I made this name plate to show what the machine can do to the father-in-law yesterday
Turned out nice; I attached it with 5 rum and cokes; oops sorry 4 4-40 screws (had 5 rum/cokes before screwing it on)

I can reach through the lock holes with an allen key to lock the quill from moving; the whole head is Z axis; but it can still drill like a regular drill press if needed; which on a CNC mill is very handy and no regularly offered CNC mill can do that

                      people that can turn tools

people that can turn tools and parts out of metal have my deepest respect...this stuff is amazing.
I have a lathe that I bought a few years back from a friend that is just sitting collecting dust in my garage...I haven't a clue on how to turn stuff, but I want to learn...its got lots of bells and whistles, but I be damned if I know what it's all used for.

                      ...no, it's not for sale!

                          Here's the finished table; some

Here's the finished table; some holes are already earmarked for the vice; others will be for a vertically mounted 3 jaw chuck; I can then hold round stock; this would of course be perfect for a billet cut propeller (hint)
