Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody has fitted one of Subtechs ADC-1 in their boat. I have one and am considering fitting it into my OTW Trafalgar class. Before i do I was hoping someone with field experience with the ADC-1 could tell me how useful and effective ( or otherwise ) they have found theirs in practice. Thanks in advance.

I haven't any first hand
I haven't any first hand experience of the ADC-1. However i can tell you it's purpose- to maintain a set depth, set by the transmitter stick (i.e. you) within a few feet- generally persicope depth.
These tend to be connected to the front dive planes, with a APC connected to the rear planes. the two working together can keep your boat on a level heading, virtually hands-off.
Subtech products have a good reputation, so fit and use with confidence.

I've used one of these
I've used one of these in my 1/96 Seawolf. You do need the APC to work with it. I too used the ADC on my bow planes. My boat is rather sluggish on stern plane response. With the ADC I could run pretty close to periscope depth for long distances. As my speed slowed, like in a turn, I gort more porpusing, but that makes sense because the planes effect goes up as more water runs over them. But when I disconnected the ADC, I could not keep an even keel no matter what I did.
I saw Skip Asay run his Albacore with both and it ran perfectly at whatever depth he set. He also ran both the APC and ADP inseries to his stern planes only, and it still worked great. So depending on how affectual your stern planes are, this second set-up could work for you too.
Good luck.
Pete
