    Definitely, this U-boat does appear

Definitely, this U-boat does appear to be an ideal confluence of scale and size. The model is small enough that it will fit in the back seat of a car, yet the scale is large enough that it can be built very detailed.

And there's lots of room inside the hull for all sorts of R/C goodies!

[quote].....and no way am I going to try to get all those deck slots done any other way.

      Jeff,
You just don't know what you are missing. I'm having a ball machining deck slots on my new mill. Learning new things everyday from you, would have never considered square rod for control surfaces. Haven't made enough noticeable progress to post new pix, should have some up in a week or so.

                          Gantu,

                          I would very much appreciate

                          Gantu,

I would very much appreciate a copy of the disc with photos, etc.! Please let me know what you need.

                          Casey,

Well, it depends on what you mean by "done".

All the casing slots were done using a series of pre-cut stick-ons that I made using a computer-driven cutter that used an AutoCAD drawing that I did. I sold the boat before I got around to actually cutting holes in the hull.

The Type II will be done with the casing slots cut out.....there aren't nearly the same number of them, so it should be a lot easier to complete.

                              Gantu,
                              Is that 1/20 scale boat

                              Gantu,
Is that 1/20 scale boat pictures of a model you did? Absolutely outstanding!!! This is Hollywood movie quality stuff. And who took those photos, and where? The water crashing over the deck and the size of the waves look right in scale to the boat.

I'm a professional artist and work in advertising as an art director doing many photo shoots, and examining and retouching on the highest levels of advertising production, and I would sware that this was a picture of a lifesize real boat. The model making and detailing on this are second to none. Very nice.

                              Pete
