I'm back and all settled

I'm back and all settled in from the move. I just got through my first week of work at my new job (same company - different office). It's not bad, I like the people and I think I can be of some use there.

Anyway, Both subs weathered the move well enough, I had some minor damage on the Storm but it was quickly repaired and I began new work.

Progress included the fixing of damaged parts (as mentioned already) adding in some putty around the jet inlets and adding some filler to the body again. I'm not quite set up yet to work on the innards again and I was desparate to get something accomplished. Pretty much just laid filler and I am waiting for it to set overnight. It should only take an hour but it's late already and another day is just as good.

Here are the pictures including some pictures of my new and larger work area! It's outside but hey, It's Vancouver and beautiful outside!!

        Weekend's progress included some sanding

Weekend's progress included some sanding down of the filler applied above and some shaping of the jet inlets. I have a little more work to do with that but they're shaping up nicely. Still have to appliy filler to the bottom of the hull and then i'll start thinking about limber hole patterns and weld lines. That and filling in the jet outlet areas with filler to get the final shaping of that area.

Here's hoping it's done for August!!

          Dan,

I just noticed the picture of your battery up there]http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/8423/10002042dk.jpg[/img]

No reason to panic, but you may want to check your battery and see if its center of mass is bang on the center when lying on its side. I ran into this issue when I was trimming my little Nautilus in that the battery was considerably heavier near its bottom than the top. When on its side, I needed to add a lot of foam to the port side of my model to compensate.

You've got so much room to play with in there that I don't think it will be an issue, but I thought you might want to check it out just so there were no surprises down the road.

              Like I said, its nothing

Like I said, its nothing to be worried about, just be aware that if you plop it in the tub... or in this case a small ocean , you'll probably see a list to whichever side has the bottom of the battery on it. A bit of foam and you'll be all squared up.

                  Update]

So I started last night with trying to get my indexing lips on the main hull. I cut 3/4" strips of 3mm Sintra and tacked them on the inside of the hull like I've seen demonstrated in other build threads. I'll epoxy them into place later. I thought I was doing ok until I laid the top back on and found that it's not lining up right. the top is not sitting down far enough creating a lip so I have to try and investigate how to fix that. Also I noticed that when I cut the top off, the hull bowed outward. I think I have to cut and mount a couple bulkheads in the middle to suck it back into shape. Then I think I'll be able to line it up and get things looking right.

Lots more work to do to get this one going.
