So I

So I placed the wireframe CO2 bottle where I wanted it in CAD and after some tweaking with the CAD tools developed a template for the supports. The bottle is going to sit on the angle in the back. hopefully no issues with that.



Anyway, I also worked out the rib templates. I put the notch in them to act as a cradle for my batteries but for where I want ribs where there is no battery, I can simply ignore the notch when I am cutting and bingo...



Plans are to go out to my parents place tonight, maybe tomorrow as well and use the scroll saw to cut these all out.

A test fit when I got home to see if it fits makes my day... sits in nicely and I don't think I'll have too many issues with the rest.

Hey, Dan. Why wait for

Hey, Dan. Why wait for the CA to set up? Grab a bit of baking soda. When you set in the glue, make sure that it has seeped into all of the nooks and crannies, then sprinkle the baking soda on it. It kicks off the CA right away and sets up kind of like a grainy cement. Once the part is tacked, you can fillet in the seams with thickened epoxy.

Dave Merriman taught me that trick, and I use it all the time for setting in fittings and such without needing to mix up epoxy and balloons. Obviously its only good for smaller parts. For big ones I still use the epoxy/ballon combo.

Anyhow, maybe this will help speed things along for you!

I only need to wire & plumb the motors, install the suffing boxes and caps, secure screw down tabs on the WTC's and those things are complete. That said, those things will take a while. I have to still turn my caps and get everything fitted that way yet. I'm working on it....slow but sure...

You need to add a

You need to add a little arm in the servo arrangement to take out the "sway". Your servos are rotary in motion, and your desired output is linear. A small intermediary rod will take the unwanted motion back out for you.

Another option would be to mount your servos upright and have the shafts use a rotary motion to actuate your rods. A bit of a pain, but an option nonetheless.

I have used both the

I have used both the LineDrives and the Xcel linear adapters in several of my subs. Both work quite well and as long as I can fit them in the WTC, I won't build a sub that uses BHS-1 seals without them.

The Xcel product is actually one for the R/C heli crowd and as might be expected is basically bullet-proof, though a bit bulkier than the LineDrive.

The LineDrive takes up less space, but I have had a few of them break on me. They use a length of stranded steel wire that wraps around what is essentially a pulley sheave. The anchor points for this wire are the weak point and where they have broken. But they're also about 1/2 the price!

It's not clear to me that the Sullivan LineDrive is still available, my local hobby stores no longer seem to be able th get them and a quick (but not thorough) web search failed to find any confirmed to be in stock.

....but ultimately, it doesn't look like it would be too difficult to build them if necessary.
