Can a train engineer drive a sub ?

Good day all,

As well as being a "sub guy", I'm also a "train guy". In reading over my latest issue of Model Railroader, I'm reminded once again of a certain technology that might be useful in the sub world.

The technology I speak of is "Camera on a Train." It's a wireless cam setup that is designed to go in model locos to give the operator a sense of being in the driver's seat while he putters around his layout. It's small and apparently easy to set up and use. It uses microwaves for transmission and is claiming a range of 100'. Cost is in the $100 U.S. mark.

....what about subs ??

This is a link to my D&E watertight camera housing page. Camera is a DraganFly Innovations unit on 2.4GHz. Works great... until the antenna gets below the water.

The MKII version of the system will see video captured onboard and downloaded later. That way you can see all the cool stuff WAY down deep at fulll resolution with no annoying static.

MKIII will be a hybrid system with both onboard storage and beamed images for surface running.
