    That sounds just like a

[color=#000000]That sounds just like a wireless camera and reciever that someone brought to one of the warship battles last year. He used 9v disposable batteries to run power the camera and the reciever. The reciever had to be constantly tuned to keep the image clean.

We mounted it on my Scharnhorst and recorded the battle with my video camera. I put together a short video and took some pictures as well. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to borrow the wireless camera for any testing.

        Why not snake the control

Why not snake the control cables through an air hose then you'll have control, electricity, and compressed air. As a bonus you won't really have to worry too much about water leaking in as your rov will be pressurized.

Thanks for the link. Very interesting.

The team is considering a tether if wireless doesn't work out. One thing we must keep in mind is that we are using two ROV's. The first is the "mother" ROV, and carries the second ROV down and fixes itself in place to perform its task. It has its own tether and surface power supply. The second is a "runabout" and only needs to operate on its own near the bottom. It gets to pick up a cable and drive through a course back to the mother as quickly as possible. The idea with wireless was to save the second ROV from dragging around a heavy cable. We will either run a tether up to the surface or back to the mother ROV and then up to the surface. We will use as light a cable as possible so it can still move as freely as possible.
