Now, now. There are other Nautili that can breach too!
Try here.
I've since executed far more breathtaking breaches, but this is the best one that I've managed to catch on video...
Carcharadon's propulsion is very cool, however. It may be limited to sci-fi subs such as the SeaQuest or perhaps the Red October (caterpillar drive). Most other subs actually do use props for propulsion, and openings large enough to propel them through the water with the jet system may somewhat spoil the appearance if the modeller is going for scale accuracy.
I'd be interested in trying out a propulsion method like this just for fun...The Nautilus Drydocks - Exceptional Products for the World of R/C Submarines - www.nautilusdrydocks.com

Hello,
You mentioned a patent... What's the number? I'd be interested in looking it up!!!
Thanks,

What about DSRV's? They use
What about DSRV's? They use water jets to move about. They use a helical prop as opposed to the centrifugal pumps which you are using in your nautilus, but I still class it as a water jet.
Also there is the deepflight 1, which has twin water jets.
Another famous sci-fi boat that uses jets is the Proteus from fantastic Voyage. Another Goff design, Rick has one of these working and I believe he uses a similar system to your nautilus.

I didn't say anything about
I didn't say anything about patents?
I was just comparing fullsize craft with your concept.
You're using thrusters instead of vanes to control your boat- the choice of model to put them in is novel, however it's all been done before- the turtle used thrusters didn't it?
As did Monturiols Ictineo.
Also if you look at a recent publication by Traplet 'Submarines]http://www.subcommittee.com/forum/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]

You said this-
'to my knowledge there are no full-size submarines that work on jet propulsion. So if you're in the accuracy camp you'll not find a model jet submarine'
I gave some examples of what I consider to be jet, or thruster propelled boats in model and fullsize form.
Your design still uses impellers to provide thrust- they just happen to be hidden away inside the bilge pumps.
Therefore, the subject you have chosen to model with jet propulsion is unusual, but the idea of jet propulsion on a model sub is not so new.
