Thor Alfa linkages help - Thor Alfa linkages help

    Hi all,

I'm building my Alfa (Thor) and I'm not sure about right posion of rudder & stern plane linkages.
More exactly, I'm talking about "rudders yoke" and they attach the rudder shaft to the linkage.

I will be gratefull if anybody can show (post) a picture of them for I can see the correct position.

    thanks !
    Tupolev

Sorry for my poor english, I hope you can undestand that I want to say.

You must have a very old kit. The new instructions that have been around for a couple of years have both mechanical drawings and isometrics showing how they are installed and how they function.

          Jeff, I knew this instruction

Jeff, I knew this instruction set for Permtit, anyways, thanks!

Matt, yes, my kit is a very old kit (I think this is your second version. Scopes, intakes reactor , two small propellers...)
It was bought 2.5 years ago (more o less) but now I'm starting to building (due an accident ). I have olny one set of plans (Deep Sea Design) but linkages and internal things aren't showed

that I'm looking for is a picture of an Alfa (stern linkages, propeller shaft....).

            Nick,

I am not completely sure what A.S. was supplying in the kit. Lyle approached the kit a bit different than we did originally.

              Nick - Matt,

              The thrust bearing

              Nick - Matt,

The thrust bearing application was omitted prior to my handling the ThorDesign kits. Two oilite bearings where included in the kit for shaft support. The instructions and plans were transfered to Hi-Res PDF to allow multiple printing by customers.

Nick, this is first that I have heard that you need a thrust bulkhead. I'll have one in the mail to you this week.

                Tupolev,

                The configuration of internal linkages

                Tupolev,

The configuration of internal linkages for the Alfa should be the same as for the Permit. Once the cast dive planes are fixed to the hull, you should be all set to go!

use the diagram Tim supplied and don't use the collars that come with the kit, they won't fit in the tail of the sub. Make your own, they are not that hard. I tried for days to make the two u collars with the kit work before I gave up and made my own.

                        Hi,

The "collars" supplied with the Kit doesn't ajust properly to stern of my Alfa (not enought available room for them ?).
Probably I'll make my own "collars".

                        thanks you for your replies

                          FYI...

I had problems getting the set screw tight in the Dubro collar. I replaced the set screw that came with the collar with a sholdered set screw. The sholdered set screw uses a much larger hex wrench that can be tightened down; you avoid stripping the set screw or the smaller hex wrench.
