Well, the way I see it is, if you produce an upgrade for a kit, it's your property. For instance, look at all the upgrades available to enhance the Robbe U47, or the smaller Revell Type VII.
I'll respect Dave's opinion on this- it's his work after all. However my take on this, is that the Vanguard has always been a low volume product- one of those kind of boats you either love or hate!
The kit in it's present incarnation has been available for about five years. Certainly the enhancements made by D&E kick this kit up several notches.
The Vanguard now has corrected control surfaces (the biggest downfall of the original model), and a reworked 18 blade propulsor, which has had to be an educated guess. Time will tell if it works better than the original 15 blade aluminium job.
The only additions to the model, which I feel would be nice, are cast forward torpedo hatches, and brass or stainless steel photoetched grills. The former are very prominent on the Vanguard with bevelled edges and are merely represented on the model hull as scribed marks.
The posts on this forum have certainly given the model a lot more advertising to the great unwashed.
Anyway, I hope an upgrade kit will be available sometime in the future, 'cause I want a set!
