    Cottage Regatta Report - more U/W photo's

    Folks,

Had some SubcomOn members at the cottage last weekend, an outstanding success. I believe I am improving in my U/W photo skills, and plan on doing a future SCR report on some tips and tricks on the subject. Following are some teasers for that article, these are the shots that I felt are mediocre ... saving the good stuff for the report.

The following is Helmut Sodkte's Nautilus and Balao Class.

The following is Ted Scrivens Type 7 and Type 9.

Lastly is my Seawolf and Trenchant.

The video turned out pretty good too, I think I had about a dozen torpedos fired my way .... made it through unscathed though

    Cheers

    bcliffe,

    Outstanding !!. It is

    bcliffe,

Outstanding !!. It is very difficult to tell the scale of the boats, which is a good thing I guess. Short of some weeds getting in the photo, they could be mistaken for the real deal pretty easily. A credit to you and the builders.

    Keep the photos coming.

    Thanks,

    Myles.

      nice work Ben. Clearly some

nice work Ben. Clearly some talented builders and captains in your group.

But- don't forget that the Report is only B&W, unless you score a cover, so you may want to best your best shots here as well!

            Paul - Yes it is.

            Paul - Yes it is.

Tim - the camera I use is the Sony CyberShot DSC-U60 for my still photo's. This camera was designed with the RC submariner in mind. There is no zoom on this camera but it is waterproof to 6 feet. When I got mine the cost was less then an underwater housing for most digital cameras.

Sam - I hear you. I have already submitted two photo's to Carl to see if they are cover material. I figured if I posted all of the photo's before the article then it would take away some enjoyment from the SCR article. I will post them to my website (in colour) after the article. Truthefully it's killing me not to post them right now, it probably wouldn't take to much to convince me to do so ....

              Ben,

Do you suppose you could get some shots of boats at periscope depth next time ? I really enjoy the photography and wasn't aware a person could even TAKE digi photos underwater.

              Very cool.....very, very cool.

What are the scales of those boats ? ...or the lengths anyway.

              Great post.

              Myles.

                            Steve,

The torpedo shots are on the video ... and yes it's pretty sweet too. I will try and pull off a single frame of the firing and post it tomorrow. To hold you over till then, here is what it looks like after the torp has been fired.

A shot of Ted's type 7, I love the rust on this.

I presume folks want to see more shots of the Nautilus, I really want to hold these back for the SCR, however here is one more.

                            Cheers
