    Engel Akula - Project started

    Hello,
I have just received a kit of Akula from Engel.
So I am announcing the beginning of my project
Anybody building this kit on the same time is welcome to change experience during the work. (Any tips and trick of you experienced modellers is very welcome).
    Thank you.

      While I have not built

While I have not built an Engel Akula, I have now spent two years trying to build an Engel Gato fleet boat. I will have it at the SubRegatta.

In building an Engel kit, first grasp a large hammer with both hands and swing rapidly upward. Doesn't matter whether you have the claw facing towards you or away. After that, you are ready to begin.

Read all of the instructions thoroughly and then totally ignore them. An advanced degree in engineering will help. Trust nothing. If you think Engel knows how to build their boats, my guess is that even they have never actually built one! They are HARD to construct. Best of luck.

By the way, I am reasonably satisifed with my final product, but have yet to get it into good trim and run it. May God have mercy on your soul.

          From what i've seen of

From what i've seen of Engel's kits, although they require a little more fabrication than, say, one of Dave manley's kits, they certainly shouldn't be beyond the abilities of a modeller who has a boat or two (target) under his belt.
