I have made and ran both the Permit class boat and the Skipjack boats and while both boats are fantastic in performamce and handling , the Skipjack I feel may have an edge on handling and speed. One thing is the Permit class had a scimitar blas propeller and the skipjack in early years used a 5 blade power prop which really makes the Skipjack Fly The boat I bought was from D&E was the Skipjack kit which will get you in the water very quickly . I have had mine ( USS Scamp) now for over 8 years of operation and it performs without flaw. I do nto think you can go wrong with either of the boats in 1/96 scale Another way to do this is to purchase both kits Thor boats are excellent in design and quality. Also remember if you build a WTC 3.0 to fit The Skipjack you can use it also to propel the Permit as well which will save you several hundred dollars .
