I just thought of an idea on how to power small scale torpedoes - baking soda. Fill the torp body with a small amount soda, to launch just squirt in a small amount of vinegar. The reaction would produce gas which would then jet out of the open end. A gram of soda produces about 200 to 300 ml of CO2.
