    Engel Lafayette SSBN

Has anyone had any experience with Engel's Lafayette Class sub, or any pros and cons regarding this manufacturer? I gave up my 32nd parallel Type XXIII and Ohio since they went out of business.

      Dave, Thanks for your response.

Dave, Thanks for your response. Am I correct that the Engel boat is a non-free flooding hull? By the photos of the kit, it seems that all electronics are not in an inner/pressure hull cofiguration. I am still waiting for a response from the supplier, so any info or photos of the boat you have been working on would be appreciated. Thanks again, Michael

        Michael,
You are correct, the hull is a non-free flooding type. You access the inside with a bayonet sealing ring. All of the electronics pull out of the hull on what is called a Tech rack. Don is hoping to have his done in a few weeks. There are a few photos on donO's homepage on this web-site. He had great service from Engel to. They shipped it from Germany in 4-days. Dave.

            Michael,

you have some catching up to do. Welcome to SC BTW. Couldn't find Dave's thread on the Seawolf but he'll check in and post it. Here's mine on the same boat using his WTC kit that works very well.

I am also building to Washington class boat from scratch as I wanted a very scale boat and this was the only way to get one. I will also be offereing it as a kit later this summer. Here's that thread.

Be sure to check out the video I did of the Seawolf in action in my pool.

Once you get the kit lets see a building thread from you.

                Steve,
I already checked out the Washington a couple of days ago. Looks very nice so far.
Yes, I have to catch up, though i've been playin' sub driver in miniature for several years. The inovations that are available now is what brought me back. I will be including pics of construction as well as my sailing area. BTW guys, I'm in Oregon and have an ample supply of clear, calm COLD lakes to run in. Glad to be back. Michael

                  Thanks Michael,

Not as large as your boat at 48 inches. Next is a type 17 for me. This one will be real big.

I'll look forward to your postings. And yes welcome back!

                  All the best,
