Why don't you put one
i'll take on that challenge. I have a few choices of lakes. One being Balboa Lake, Reseda Lake, and the best being Castaic Lower Lake. Baboa and Reseda lake are located in San Fernando Valley and Castiac lake located just North of Six Flags Magic Mtn. If Castiac is the choice, ill contact the park ranger and ask permission if we can have a designated area for a day. The water is very clear at Castiac. Balboa is 1-2 ft visibility and Reseda is 0-1ft visibility. If you have a choice of lake just post here. Why don't you put one together. We'll come.
Steve
Thanks,
Shawn

Shawn,
I live 10 minutes from Balboa. It's a pretty black lake but a nice location. Reseda I would pass on though. So either of the two will work nicely.
How do we get the word out though? So we get a good group? We could make this and anual event too. About time ther was such an event in Socal.
Thanks Shawn!

I agree with you that Balboa lake being a dark color water. The advanatge to that place is, they have a designated area all year long for r/c boats, they have a retrieval boat that the lifeguard is more than happy to help us out during the case our subs have a problem, the water is dark like you mentioned but it does make it a more scale looking when you take a picture??, the park is very large and easy going for a relaxing sunday, and the lake doesnt have underwater obstacles so its hard for our subs to get stuck.Shawn,

Maybe you and I and a few others can meet up once or twice a month on sundays (or whenever), that by itself will help get the word around and later on set up an anual socal sub/boat day. Im still learning how to operate my sub underwater and still building the finishing touches which seem to take forever.

Hi Y'all,
If you want to
Hi Y'all,
If you want to set your boats up for salt water (like a real submarine)....
I run nearly every saturday morning at the model boat pond in San Diego.
All you need is a whip antenna and some extra lead. (plus I spray all circuit boards with silicone.
Its not for the faint of heart, but I love it, it is the most beautiful pond I have ever run in.
