    The big boat is going

The big boat is going to be the USS Icefish, a Balao class Fleetboat. It's a Scale shipyard hull, very nice but very basic.
Steve I showed your video of your seawolf to the chief and he was very impressed, I'm working on him.
    Take care

      Well tell the chief I'm

Well tell the chief I'm honered. People who have served on these boats are my hero's.

I only wish that when my dad was at Mare I could have gone aboard the 598 when it was there. I've never been on a real sub and would love to some day.

        Hi Don,
        I also

        Hi Don,
I also have a 1/48 Balao Fleet Boat, and quess what! It is the Icefish! It has not seen the water in years. The old WTC needs replacing. I carved the deck out of a $80 chunk of Teak. It took about a month of work to do. Looks good, but Teak was a bad choice. The oils in the wood make it hard to paint. I will have to put up some photos for you sometime. Dave.

          Steve,
          I'll pass your message on

          Steve,
I'll pass your message on to the Chief, submariners are a rare breed of people. They purposely put themselves in dangerous situations to help safe guard our most precious possesion; Our Freedom! As much as I respect anyone who served honorably in the military I can't help but hold these guys in high reguard.
Dave, anything you can provide would be appreciated, pictures, links to sites or advise. How did you come to decide on the Icefish?

            I wanted a Balao class

I wanted a Balao class sub that had a full length teak deck(Not many) And was built with the electric boat prints. The Icefish was the only one I could find that looked like this was the case. I could be wrong!! I will try to get some info together for you. Dave.

              Thanks Dave. I too was

Thanks Dave. I too was looking to do an electric boat hull, after all I do work for them. I have the floating drydock plan book as well as many others. I have a set of drydock plans from the Cobia in Wisconsin for the hull details. I found the Icefish home page and have a few pictures from there and I plan on going to the sub museum here in groton the first chance I get and see what they have on file for her. Just so you don't double your efforts. I need to order the back issue of the SCR that talked about how to build fleetboat decks, #15 I believe.
