    operation petticoat

How many of you remember this movie lol... lets see someone model a pink sub...Operation Petticoat was filmed at the US Naval Base in Key West Fla. They actually did paint a submarine pink. The submarine used was the U.S.S. Balao (SS-285), which was still in commission at the time.

does anyone remember the name of the movie where the guys salvaged a world war2 sub and used it to rob a cruise liner?????

    That would be "Assault on

That would be "Assault on a Queen".... Starring Frank Sinatra, Virna Lisi, Tony Franciosa... 1966, screenplay by Rod Serling. They recover and renovate a type VII (I think it was) and ambush the Queen Mary... kinda hokey, but, it was the sixties...

          I think Gene Berger painted

I think Gene Berger painted his 1/32 boat to look like the Sea Tiger (I only know this because I have Ray Mason's tapes). I forget which video has it on there though.

Yes I did. I've looked at your site before and never noticed the plexi glass. I thought it was a cast piece, very nice.
I was thinking of carving (if you will) my radar out of a solid piece of brass.

                    The plastic was actually just

The plastic was actually just the thin stuff from store packaging. I cut mine out of a plastic package of wood screws. If you tried anything like that for your radar you might have to use thicker plastic as obviously your boat is bigger than mine.

Like I said they are not mine. Jeff Larue posted a link to the old site a while back. I go there for ideas and inspiration.

Lots of great pictures and quite a few of the links still work.
                        Check it out.

Assault on a Queen, 1966 (picture of sub and USCGC ANDROSCOGGIN)

A Paramount picture. Frank Sinatra plays an ex-submariner that is down on his luck. He participates in a scheme to raise an old U-boat and disguise it as an experimental Royal Navy submarine--and use it to stop the RMS Queen Mary at sea and rob her. The plan is thwarted when the USCGC Androscoggin shows up and rams and sinks the submarine.

                            Hey,

I work in the movie biz and do all the crap you refered too. And you know what. you couldn't be more right! LOL! I just hate what this town has become.

For my birthday last night I watcehed Run Silent Run Deep and The Hunt for Red October. What a treat and no CG to be found except for the prop wash in Red October. That's all they could do with PC's back then.
