Alligator Jr model in Museum - In Philly Independent Seaport Museum

A little more boasting if you don't mind too much

I just received some photos from Craig Bruns, Collections Manager at the Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia.

My "Alligator Junior" model is now part of the new display about Brutus DeVilleroi and his USS Alligator - which he built in Philly in 1862 for the Union Navy to go up against the CSS Virginia.

I must admit I had second (and third, fourth and fifth) thoughts about "giving my model away", but to see in place at such a beautiful facility, I feel much better now.

As usual, the reporter got it wrong. This is not a model of the Alligator, but rather the prototype that DeVilleroi buit in 1859.

      If I had built it,

If I had built it, I would boast too!! Go ahead...you deserve it. It's a beautiful model.

            Yes, you still have to

Yes, you still have to pay taxes. My retired military pay comes from your taxes , so you could probably claim me as a dependent .

                Tim,
                I knew when I first

                Tim,
I knew when I first saw your Alfa that you were destined for greatness. Congratulations on getting your Alligator Jr. recognized and placed in the museum. Sorry I couldn't join you at Carmel for the funrun last week but I'm looking forward to seeing you at the regatta, if not before.

                Al

                  Thanks Al - just remember

Thanks Al - just remember every time you don't show up at our meets, we talk about you!

Note - We will be having a Carmel fun run in May (7?). Hope you can make that one.

                    Great Job Tim, keep boasting!

Now that you made it, you need to get a model into the Smithsonian.
