uss halibut project off and running - progress of hull master
uss halibut project off and running - progress of hull master
well for those asked to see it here it is now remember this is in a raw stage and I am now done with the starboard side basic hull shape and moving on to the port side
it is 1/96 scale
for some reason I cant edit my posts ?
so here is more info
the kit is 1/96 scale wich puts it at 43.75 inches long 3.62 inches beam and draft of 3.59 inches. It will include two towers (sails) one as commissioned and the taller sail seen after the major refit at mare Island. the regulus misle hatch (bat cave) is a separate casting (to preserve the detail) aslo the bow jet deverter designed by Dr.Craven and lastly the fake DSRV or Dsrv simulator.
we are hoping to have the hull cast in two parts top and bottom this has an obvious advantage in that the deck is intregal with the top half. we are debating about including the regulus missile and launch rack with the kit or as an accesory kit. ball park figure will be 549.00/kit. we are looking at a release date of september or october this year.
this pic show the hull master underway. I started with abs tubing and then glue the properly shaped ribs to the tubing then fill and sand prior to GRP coating
