Change of direction - on diving system

I bought this alvin kit from a fellow and it came with a engel system... and i have researched wtc's and enclosures so much i cant hardly stare at this computer screen lol... Even had one designed but its still large and costly to have it machined if i decided to do so. Unfortuneatly im scrapping the engel system as its just to dam long for this application and is better suited for the military type sub designs that are long and narrow...the alvin is just to short...
soooo, after talking to dave at small world models i think im going to order one of his systems with a few new items he has in the works... my question is, of the guys that have used his system, what are the likes and dislikes of it that you may have????? Whats a ballpark number on the amount of blows you can get on your particular size tube and model??

by the way, i may have a 4 sale sign on the engel system at the funrun this weekend whats a fair price for the 500ml EA with autostop, with the control unit (servo operated)??? Its new and pristine condition.....

    thanks!!!!!

      it will have to be

it will have to be a 4inch tube... this thing just uses alot of space and the minimum length will be 13 inches when the plunger shaft is full extended (fully flooded).....

I would go for 80% of the new cost, and see if you get any offers.

Why don't you have a go at making your own WTC?

          It's not difficult.

The hardest part is the endcaps, and you can purchase them ready made for not a lot of money.

Then all you need is a tube. Cut the ends square with a mitre saw, sand with progressive sheets of wet and dry, use a flat surface (pane of SUPPORTED glass, will do) and presto, one WTC ready for fitting out.

            i have researched my own,

i have researched my own, for weeks and even had a engineer at the university design one but its still to big and would require alot of weight to get to sink due to volume, and the engel is just to long for this application..period... so im gonna go with a gas system of daves from small world models....
i found lots of enclosures that were NEMA 12 rated for submersion but if it was big enough to hold the engel it was to big to get in the alvin...

according to the engel site the piston and lpa unit together are around 214 EUR which converts to $275...would 200 be a fair asking price or should i go lower?

              I would be inclined to

I would be inclined to put a note on it giving a description of the unit and put 'OFFERS'.
