ESC in the Wet? - anybody do this before?

I've been giving this alot of thought and palcing the ESC in the wet would free up some space inside the WTC for me and also give me more batteries for power. or maybe a small
pump for say ballast system.. Does it sound like a good idea?
My ESC is water proof and it only makes sense since my VII has little room inside for batteries.

      Waterproof...as stated http://www.subcommittee.com/forum/icon_smile.gif

      I figured that

      Waterproof...as stated

I figured that since it's waterproof it would be idea to run in the wet and it would be cooled off the same way, I lost three controllers this year due to water getting where it should not be, the marine controller by Mtronics is the way to go for the price $34.95

I am totally suprised that NOBODY as really replied to this idea, my Seawolf and my Kilo will both have this setup when completed, I had to put almost all projects on hold for almost 2 months until about two weeks ago.. now I'm working on getting the parts I need to finish not only Seawolf and once rebuilt Kilo sub, but the final touch to my VII Revel sub.

my Jap I19 will be interesting..

Interesting idea.....I suspect that the biggest challenge will be to ensure that the 7 wire connections remain waterproof where they go through the WTC bulkhead, especially the 3 receiver connections. Is there enough space on the WTC end cap for removeable connections?

Why not put the batteries in the wet space instead? Then there'd only be the usual 2 wire connections to deal with.

            my WTC in my VII

my WTC in my VII has two connectors that run through the endcaps with the pins just there to plug into the servos,I just made sure that it was sealed inside and out
this time around I'm going to run the cable outside the WTC
and connect everything out in the wet and seal the wires off going into the WTC. I need to take this outside with my VII since it's the test bed for the idea..

            Wish me luck

I second Jeffs Idea the batteries out in the wet no worries about shorting I have done tis in my 1/72 nautilus remove all the covering from the pak except the individual cell wraps and seal the ends of the pak. I have experianced minor electrolosis and nothing more
make sure to dry the pak extremely well shake it out after each use and let dair dry

              good luck

The type of batteries I'm useing would not like being in the wet but I understand where the two of you are coming from.
I hope this weekend I have enough time to complete my WTC to prove my idea and see how well it works, it's really a simple design, just hope the concept works well
