Good luck Mark! I'm sure you'll be ok.

Got all the small details done on my boat. Riggings and small parts that I hope they do not come flying off under water. Soon I'll post some pictures of her in the water after I get her balanced. Then some video.

Thanks, I hope to have better pictures today if I get to go, I just hope that darn battery holds up better or it's a 6 AA NiMh 2300 batteries pack I will try next.. I'm beginning to believe that might be my best bet.

I will shoot some video if I can.

Well I couldn't stop the leaks on the first WTC I made so I did it the right way.

2 inch OD acrylic tubing did the trick. Just fits. I used Bondo to make the end caps. I used a cut piece of the tubing. Glued it to ply. I wrapped some PETG around the outside. Waxed it and then a little PVA and poured the Bondo.

It released well. It shrinks a bit but i plan to use some silicone to seal the ends.

It was a bit of a trick to get the parts all inside but only took an evening to do.

Tomorrow I'll test for leaks. The whole WTC can be removed and everything inside has easy access. This is a much better way to go.

Soon we should see the boot in the high seas.

Well I just tested the WTC at 1 ft. for 20 minutes. No leaks! Finally. Added the cap in case it did to help it dry out. Didn't need it but a may come in handy one day.

Now to place the unit back in the boat and test her.

Steve that look and sounds great!

that's a sweet idea with Bondo, just make sure that the bondo
is sealed because I was told that bondo absorbs moisture so you know where I'm going with that but never the less a darn good idea! I'm trying to get the finial testing of my Uboat done and a relaunch of my Kilo sub as well.. Heck I still have 1 other Uboat to finish up so I'm saving it until Winter really kicks in!

                  Good luck on the testing!

                    Mark,

Thanks a bunch. I'm not worried about the bondo. It's water proof enough considering it's on polyester resin and filler. No problem with leaks at all.

I got the idea from Big Daves little WTC.

                      My Kilo will have some

My Kilo will have some new ideas built into it, the end caps are the weak link in all my subs so far because of the "soft" ends are made from very flexible plastic/rubber, I add the tool dip inside to make the ends more harder and keep flex down to a min, but I need to make something alittle more stronger
so I will work with my Kilo on this and when I'm ready my next
VII is still in the closet waiting to be built.
                      So many projects...
Also have three small Alfa,Akula and Seawolf from CN models
and two not so small Revell models of the U99 and some trumpeter XXI uboats that are good canidates for RC upgrades
and one revell XXI Uboat I'm packed with projects.

i just returned from the 2004 Hamburg model-fair and among other subs i took three pics of a nice Revell-conversion in the making.
Thought it might be interesting to take a look!

I'm not too keen on cutting the hull in two pieces, it makes thing easy I admit but I like being able to lift up the deck and pull out the whole WTC.

                          The Lotus Espirt looks AWESOME!

Great stuff guys! Thanks for posting.

I tested mine late last night in the pool and after awhile she sank straight to the bottom. I didn't run the RC gear it was just a static test to see if she sits right in the water. She did for awhile and then down she went.

After I got her back up I found the WTC to be completely dry so she's a bit heavy is all. I cut and added some white foam and now she sits perfect. So tonight I'll test her running. I'm sure it will turn and the motors will run. I just hope she dives.

I ended up making my own props from brass and wheel collars. They came out pretty well.

                                I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
