            Thanks a bunch Charlie!

That was just _the_ last and only information we needed before we can start our project!

If our project ever moves into a type XXI hull, we'll post it in this forum.

We're a bunch of gratefull engineering students up here in Denmark.

            Best regards,

I am well into the stage two of the build on my Type XXI and am finding it a fairly easy kit to build. (we'll see when it actually gets on the water!) Saw Dougie's articles on U Boat colours and was wondering if the same schemes apply to the Type XXI.
The only variation I have seen is U2511 with the white conning tower. Anyone done any additional research on the colurs and markings for these U boats?

                As best as I can

As best as I can tell, the Type XXI was painted entirely with the same light grey used on the Type VIIs. Schnee's U-2511 being a notable exceptio with the white tower.

                  Thanks Jeff, I would like

Thanks Jeff, I would like to use Testors paints I have seen many type V11s done in an overall agressor grey scheme Testors 1950 seems pretty dark though. Have you gauys found a closer shade?
I like this shade of grey though gives an more realistic finish.
The U2540 on display in Bremerhaven does have a lightly darker lower hull but don't know if that was the wartime scheme.

Would anyone building this know if the guide rail I beam on the bottom of the equipment tray should protrude past the last bulkhead. mine does but I can't see any reason for this do so?

the same situation exists with the guide rail on the u47. I assumed it was so I could put epoxy on the front and back side of the bulkhead, giving a stronger glue joint.

                          I am using MBS Solvent

I am using MBS Solvent cement for ABS (Model Builders Supply in Canada) works really well on the ABS plastics in this kit. I am sealing the WTC with NHP (National Hobby Products) two part epoxy 12. Also H&D's own cyanoacrylate super thin.
These are products I have used for my surface ships with good results. I imagine any type of ABS solvent cement, epoxy, or cyan would work.
I am thinking of using silicone sealant as a reinforcement for the WTC any thoughts?

                            Be careful about which type/brand

Be careful about which type/brand of silicone sealant you use. I have seen Lexan crazed (in my Hunley ballast tank) when Shoe Goo / Marine Goo products were used. This has also happened to a couple of other guys I know.

Whatever kind you get try it on a piece of scrap tubing and let it cure overnight first before you use it on your WTC. I use the clear Permatex brand sealer/adhesive and have never had a problem. It will also work on builders foam - without melting as the above mentioned products have been known to do.

tim as usual you are right on the ball testing on scrap I never hear of anyone doing this I myself have always done it.
I am using the stabilt glue IU have heard comments that it gets gummy or emulsiies with prolonged emerssion
I have not had this happen or heard it happening on any bots I build
as far as others a good thick ca to tack parts together then sprinkle with baking soda
and then the stabilt or PC 11 marine grade two part epoxy
I evan have used JB weld (not the quickset one) remember this
the longer the cure time the stronger the bound
