???
you did not mention the retail cost
please let us know what it is
I am going to build one for Al and I will write up a review/building tips
I wouldn't have expected that much myself the level of detail you can do with vac-molding is usually lost during the vac pull
even if the masters are a negative I visit a plastics house about 6 times a year and talk to the guys about these things. the level of detail we want is simply not possible with vac-molding IMO I plan to use a pounce wheel to simulate rivens and thin styrene strip for weld lines I have used white glue on static models but that won't stand up the constant emersion
IMO
429 euro in France. Much less in Germany (I saw some at about 300 euro).
In fact, I read in the instructions manual it is planned to simulate the welding lines with very thin tape.
"Sums up what i stated-'Yesterday!" You don't want my opion.......do you? o.k. {PLASTIC IS FOR {STATIC-MODELS} {FIBERGLASS & METAL......is for Underwater-endurance! Thank you for going and waisting your time Antoinel. I also will have nothing to do with this boat. I don't sissy-foot around, with R/C ...why would anyone else??????
I read a post somewhere about elitist submariners Horridoh. The Robbe kit can be easily converted to very detailed and relative cheap subs. I've seen models which make most of us wish we had that PLASTIC thing.
I disagree with the fact that only fiberglass and metal are the way to go. Perhaps when you dive 20 metres or so. And they make the hobby very expensive for beginners. Robbe makes nice kits for people who are just beginning the hobby and don't have the mechnical knowledge to create a scratch build sub. Everybody had to learn. We didn't know how to walk when we were born, did we?
alrighty then guys and dollsI just got one that I am building for Al Matava
I must say I am impressed.
Laser cut parts, pre cut flood and vent holes with virtually no filing or sanding needed and the instruction book is a real winner tons of photos and clear clean consice written directions. they learned their lesson with the U47 and talk about a big boat wow there is enough room in there for a 6 shooter torp system in from and 4 in the rear
the masts and scope are first rate, they need to be assembled but still nice work and they improved the #$#@$@#$screwjoiner nice bit of work there.
I will be taking photos and writting a review for post in the report if we have any more. or at least on these pages.
I was expecting the same sized box as the U47 and was surprised its shorter but much wider and much heavyer
thanks for the info I will start the review this week but I can tell you thae same thing I told Al it will probably take 6 weeks finish the build if not more but I plan to do a first impressions review the a buid up review
addendum
after carfully decifering the photo section and written directions
the bow planes are definatley operational two servos are used in a mini WTB water tight box mounted out in the wet area of the bow
there is a ton of room in ther pressure vessel I beleive enough for any type ballast system of course alterations would be needed, the layout of the rc equipment tray room up front like the U47 then three bays the first two are for batteries and the third is for the rx and esc and whatever else you can shuff in there
the one thing that mystifies me is there are two in inch dia tubes capped off at both ends and these runn the length of the pressure vessel and are glued on top but nothing passes through them ?? extra buoyancy ? remember the lead brick for the U47 well there are 4 count them fellows 4 of them in this boat what a hernia maker
more to come I will try to post pics this week some time if I can break away from all the boats in the shop beggin for attention
thanks for the info I will start the review this week but I can tell you thae same thing I told Al it will probably take 6 weeks finish the build if not more but I plan to do a first impressions review the a buid up review
take it easy

Charlie,
Don't worry -- I'm not counting on this article for the december issue!
Seriously, I knew you wouldn't be able to complete this article quickly (after all, you have to build it in your spare time), and realized this wouldn't get published until one of the 2005 issues...
