    SWM Trenchant

    Folks,

I have had a couple of e-mails inquiring on my first impressions of the SWM Trenchant... and the short story is I am ecstatic to be the owner of such a fine kit.

Here is a copy of my e-mail to Dave after the Trenchant finally arrived after being delayed in customs. It was a pleasant surprise to be getting e-mails from Dave asking if it had arrived yet as opposed to the other way around.

    ----->
    Dave,

    It's Arrived !!!!

So all those pictures you have sent to me .... they don't do your work justice, you need to see the Trenchant first hand to appreciate the quality of your work.

It is very evident that you think of the small things, as well as the detailing .... that indexing lip ... best one I have see. I really like the built in stops for the WTC .... there is zero question as to where that goes ....

The scribing .... WOW ! I really enjoyed the contour change between the hull and the anti-skid deck.

Bottom line .... money well spent. Thanks for all your efforts on this project.

    Cheers

What does the kit look like once delivered?

    And 5 minutes later ..

Earlier in this thread I mentioned that photo's don't do Dave's work justice... and they can't. The camera doesn't appear to be able to pick up the contour change between the hull and the anti-skid deck. Here is a close up of a hatch, and what the camera misses is the depressed anti-skid deck and the raised hatch.

It's something you need to see to really appreciate.

For the future SCR editor to be, please feel free to put me on the hook for an article reviewing this kit.

    Cheers

I've watched Dave labor over this Kit these long months. He really pulled all the stops for this one. Everyone should make an effort to see one of these, they are truly the best example of the Model Fabricators art.

Oooh, nips along doesn't it, surprisingly nimble too!

What's the motor? Looks like a Speed 400, direct drive or geared.

            Andy,

I concur with your statements on how it performs. The setup Dave has select is a direct drive configuration. I think he sources his motors from a local vendor, Dave may need to confirm this. The motors he does use appear to be larger then a Speed 400.

                Folks,

While the sub is not 100% operational yet, some progress has been made. I wanted to get some photo's for the article I was writing for the SCR before winter sets in. Please note the following shots were staged. I was hoping to get some better shots but conditions did not allow for it.

                          Bob,

The water was a balmy 60 degrees, this time I wasn't willing to go swimming to get the shots.

I will pass on your kudos to my wife Konnie on the paint job, she is the official painting department in all the models I make. It makes her day to hear people appreciate her work, and I agree with you I think she did a terrific job.
