    A plan comes together...

Here are two versions of the Plan as it stands. The stern planes my yet move aft of the propeller.

But I still think Verne's NAUTILUS looks cooler this way!

      Leelan,

      Moving your stern planes

      Leelan,

Moving your stern planes aft of the prop will enable you to vector the thrust and thus give you a bit more pitch authority; however, if the stern planes you show are moveable, king they should provide all the pitch control you need.

The trailing ends of the horizontal fins on the NAUTILUS MINISUB are hinged to act as stern planes ahead of the prop about where yours are, and mine work just fine. The boat crash-dives really well.

If you'd like to see it diving (and haven't seen it already) go to the FREE VIDEO CLIPS page at VulcaniaSubmarine.Com and click on the link for NAUTILUS PROVING TESTS; there's also a link on the TESTING THE NAUTILUS MINISUB page.

      VBR,

        Don't know how that happened.

Don't know how that happened. Was supposed to say "I'm thinking they should provide all the pitch authority you need."

          No AutoCad. I used MSpaint

No AutoCad. I used MSpaint on my old 133Mhz computer.
"Stone knives and bear skins" I know. But it is all I gots.

Yes. Both the fore and aft planes are intended to be moveable. The drawings just show the overall plan. Fine details will be worked out in 3D as I come to them. Wouldn't do to get a faulty mindset entrenched at the get-go.
Because we all know "No plan survives contact with Reality."

                      Yes. I have seen them.

Yes. I have seen them. And I have that paper model - not assembled yet, but I have it.

That first site looks a lot like Greg Sharpe's design. So much so that I wonder that the site owner can sell it without Greg's permission. But since it is also very close to Verne's description I suppose it falls within the public domain.

Here is a modified NARWHAL or paper NAUTILUS .
