Need some help with the linkages

Ok, I am at the stage on my Thor Alfa, that I am trying to figure out how to do the control linkages in the tail section, and for the life of me, I am not sure how to do it.

The kit comes with two U-shaped collars that I have been working on to trim down to fit in the tail section. But it seems they don't move much in there.

I also bought two plastic collars with flanges for an rc airplane in hopes of using them for the rear dive planes, I just can't figure out which way to go.

    IMO it is best to

IMO it is best to make your own from wheel collars (collets) and brass rod of 3/32

see link for my rather crude drawing I am sure others have a much better illustration

it is easy to do just solder the rod to the collars and your good to go an easy way to get the radius correct is to bend the rod right upagainst the hull in that area then tweak it a bit smaller to fit inside.

      Novagator,

Follow this link to the Thor Permit kit linkage instructions. The rules are basically the same for the Alfa...

The only suggestion I would add would be to use brass clevis's or Z bends when connecting the pushrods to the linkages.

How do you attach the control rods?

I have been following the permit instructions, but the Alfa comes with two U-collars, and not the individual collars and flanges like that.

I guess I could make my own, I was just trying to avoid that.

          With u-collars, and Alfa's rudder

With u-collars, and Alfa's rudder and stern plane appendages, you'd have to install them on the two control shafts as you glue the appendages to the hull. Otherwise you can't install them as you say -- the control shafts are fixed and won't allow you to connect them together with the appendages glued in.

          Unless I'm missing something...

Thats right, and the last thing I want to do is glue in the control surfaces and the linkages not work.
