Mtroniks ESC trouble - and the robe f14 radio

hey guys I am having a big problem with the msonik brand ESC in particular sub- marine 3(not submarine) I can't get then to do setup in the boat I I have built (customer) (IMARA)
all I get is a get flashing green light
setup procedure ios as follows after all connections are made press the setup buttom with in 2 seconds it will flash green then move throttle stick to full and press setup again it should now flash red move the stick to full reverse and pres setup again to get both red and green to light this should now be ready to use but no not in this boat I have tried them in other boats and on the bench in a motor test stand and they perforn flawlessly
the boat is quite large and uses hectoperm motors 12v the batteries I have in the boat are 2 12v 7 amp in parallel (one per motor)
I have checked all wiring for shorts none present and continuity is great instructions from manufacturer state if green continues to flash turn everything off and operate servo reverse I have done that (this radio is a pain you have to take it apart to reverse a channel) and no change the manufacturer states the if the green continues to flash you are trying to setup high point too close to neutral well duh I have in in neutral at startup

Hi Chuck]this radio is a pain you have to take it apart to reverse a channel [/quote]. Normal throttle is center off which provides a 1.5 ms pulse. From 1.5 to 1 ms is reverse and from 1.5 to 2 ms is forward. Thus, it should not be necessary to re-wire the radio for reverse.
One thing to try just to ensure the feed to the ESC is correct and that is to substitute a servo. If the servo acts correctly then it would be the ESC that has a problem and Al at Ships N' Things would be a great resource.

sorry I am using a homemade BEVR and I do have 5 volts at the RX all the radio wring is down the starboad side and power runs to port and center between batteries to motors
I have had them working with standard 55o can motor and a differant radio I suspect it is the radio I got one to work but the other is very stubborn and the stich it is activated from seems like there is not enough resistance during movement from either for or back if it persists I will just change ESC this is so strange I cant figure it out they work great with smaller motor and differant radio the only option left to trouble shoot is remove a motor and test on the bench but thats pain thanks for the help

ya know matt that is a good point I thought I had disconnected the red wires but I will doulbe check since I am runing on a home brew BEVR using a regu;ator transistor and two capacitors my only beef is a nominal 4.95 volts instead of 5 volts

One device I worked on acted as if it had a mind of it's own. Lights would seem to come on for no reason, etc, etc. You can use just about any value capacitor after that. For the 1 uf, I would recommend a tantalium type as the are the one type of capacitor that acts somewhat like a diode as well.

yes it is the one you mentioned and I use two 1uf ceramic axial lead caps but the tantalum does seem to be the norm for this device its just that rad shak rarely has what I need
do you know if there is a minimum order from allied or digikey

$ wise or number of components

I am going to try a rx batter to see if the BEVR is the culprit
