    WTC pump type

Hello All, I am nearing completion of my OTW Vangaurd kit and was starting to look into a ballast system. I am leaning towards a pump type. Does anyone have a diagram that shows how to build one? What parts to use, and what electronics I should incorporate. Also how long the ballast chamber should be.

    For information on working out

For information on working out the ballast tank size, take a look at this thread.

It's not possible to give you an estimate by email.

For the pump system, you need to be more specific. Do you mean a water pump system, or do you wish to use an air pump (compressor)?

Into a fixed tank or flexible tank?

    Vented or sealed ballast tank?

Regarding electronics- do you prefer solid state, or will micro switches suffice?

How about using a piston tank- The Engel 750ml tank would be most appropriate I think, and it's available off the shelf.

    Cheers,

    Andy

      G'day,

John slater wrote a great article for the subcommittee report Issue 52 March 2003 on his pump set up for the Permit (ships n things) that he built. He talks about the pump type he used there. (This is for a pressurised ballast tank set up).

It's a good set up you may wnat to consider.

      regards,
