    WTC vertical positioning

Something I've wondered about for a while.....

I have a situation where it would be advantageous for me to sit a WTC lower than the middle vertical position. Basically, the very top of the WTC would line up with the surfaced water line. Would doing so create any issues with stability or performance?

    Erich,

You could expect a stronger righting moment (i.e.: stability) while submerged, but you would lose the effect of that portion of the ballast tank that is at and above the surfaced waterline. Said another way, any part of the ballast tank that is above water does not provide any lift.

As he said, the the ballast tank is more efficient that way since there is no air space above the water line which doesn't contribute to buoyancy at surface trim.
