    installing bellows type pushrod seals

    How should these seals be installed?I have always used cup seals but now I have a robbe type 7 and it has aluminum tubes in the wtc stern cap. I have the bellows and spring clamps. Should the bellows be put on with silicone and clamped to the tube? should the pushrod wire be attached to the bellows ?

    Greg,
    I have the Engel Akula and the bellows I zip-tied to the tube. That was enough for it to seal. I did not do anything to the pushrod as far as attaching it.
    Peace,
    Tom
    If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

      During the Skipjack modification #7, I removed the o-ring seals and installed bellow seals.
      I use brass tubing that was slightly larger than the big bellows end and I added a larger ring to the end of the main tube so the zip tie would have something to stop any sliding of the bellow so it would not slide off.

      The small 1/8" control rod tube came through a brass tube in the larger tube to keep it straight.

      No lubricant of any kind was used to push the control rod through the bellows or slide the bellows on to the through end cap tubing.
      =============
      I also have an Engels Akula II which uses bellow seals and no lube.

        Thanks for the advice. I wasn't sure if I should silicone things together or not. So for now I'll try without as I can always do it later. Thanks again , Greg
