    Blueback trimming

So, tonight I had an opportunity to trim my 1/96 Blueback. The only weights I can get locally are Pinewood Derby weights from Hobby Lobby. I put two sets in the bottom and the sub heeled over to port. (see photo) Not enough weights? Any suggestions?

    Thanks

If this is an original SWM Blueback it shouldn't take much to get it to trim out properly. Can you provide a photo of what the inside of the hull looks like? I'm thinking that you may have something within the dive module hard over on the port side.....

First thing I would try is to place some flotation foam along the port side at and below the desired surfaced waterline.

      Farlan.
Try Turner's Outdoor for lead fishing weights. (over by Lowes)
They come in several sizes and shapes.

I like to use automotive wheel weights, they are coated steel with a peel and stick tape on one side, very cheap, no corrosion.

I use #7 buckshot, mixed with epoxy, and laid out to cure in long, skinny blocks. You can snap off pieces fairly easily to adjust the weight.

Yes, do this! Make a strip about 1/4"x1/4"x however long and put it on each side in the upper hull, at the waterline. You may have to adjust the thickness for clearance. This acts like an outrigger, but it's on the inside. Jeffy is a wise dude!!
