Hi guys,
i just returned from the Dortmund model-fair Intermodell and of course,as promised, visited Norbert Brüggen's booth !
First of all......the new Revell conversion kit is not yet available and will take about 2-3 weeks to complete as Norbert told me.
First impression was...very good !!
All parts seem to fit perfectly and are very well made.
The red rubber-balloon you see on Norbert's site is not the ballast-tank included in the kit.
Included will be another system, consisting of two round plastic endcaps with a kind of rubber outer-skin that expand when flooded and shrinks when emptied.
Norbert assured me that this ballast-tank will be big enough to have the boat float at the original CWL when surfaced !
This tank's flooded with a pump ( 500 size motor ) that needs higher voltage to have good power,so there are 12 batteries AAA ( in this case GP 800 mAh ) and the boat runs on 14,4V.
When the rear section is attached, first a double o-ring plastic sealing cap seals both halves.....
....then the boat is connected via three metal-plugs which are in the front half....
.....and the matching holes in the rear half.
Here you can also see the brass part on the right......when unscrewing that thing, the servo-tray and the aft tech-rack can be easily removed.
This works very smooth and when locked by turning the rear-half ( like a bayonet ) the boat is sealed.
Here's a look at the electric motor with "wet-gear"
And a look at the internals of the rear section
(sorry....not the best pics...)
Norbert told me that the completed model weighs in at about 1,8 kilos when fully equipped.
If that kit had already been available i definetly would have purchased one
So for those of you who are familiar with Norbert's kits, parts, quality and service and plan to give yourself a very nice present........go for it !
I'll order mine as soon as it is out........and i'd like to point out that i'm not paid for writing this !!
Have fun with your kit.......i will !
