12 volt Relais in Engel subs.

    Hi,

I need some help and advice here, from people more knowledgeble in electronics.

I am converting my Pat Henry into 12 volt. Now, there are 12 volt conversion kits for the Ballast tanks, and there at 12 volt Motors that can substitute the motors for propulsion and the Conning tower mechanism. However, I need 12 Volt relais in place of the 6 volt versions used on the switch board for the Conning tower mechanism.

Any idea of what type to use, and what you else have done in terms of 12 Volt cenversions?

    Regards,
    Anders

    Have you tried at Conrad

Have you tried at Conrad (www.conrad.de). I saw you live in Europe, just like me, and they ship to most European countries. On the top of the relais you see the brand name and a serial number. You can then look it up in the online catalogue. And find a matching pair of relais in 12V. This worked with the dutch version of the website (I had to change some relais for my Off-shore supplier). Perhaps it works. Good luck.

      Can't you add the proper

Can't you add the proper size resistor in parallel with the relay coil and use the six volt coils with the 12vdc supply?

Adding a resistor would be a lot easier wouldn't it?

          Thanks guys for the answers.

[color=#000000]Thanks guys for the answers. Helped me a lot!

Yes, of course using a resister in series with the coil is a simple solution. I have however found some 12 Volt
Relais on Conrad.de. Not the same brand, but the pin positions and coil positions are similar. Have ordered
some, and we´ll see they will work.
On Conrad I have also found the 12 Volt 5-pole Igarashi 385-size motors (same rpm at 12 Volt as present in 6
Volt) to be used with the periscope. And I also here found a seperate 2 Amp/5 Volt Bec , that I plan to use in
place of RX-battery. Seems more robust than the BEC in the ESC.
As propulsion I plan to insert a Graupner Speed 600 12 volt Turbo BB (Best. no. 3302) in place of the present
Mabuchi 550 of same size. I´ll keep the Engel 1]
