I'm building a 1/96 Permit by Thor Design. I recently purchased a Raboesch 7 blade brass prop as a possible replacement for the cast prop included with the kit. Theres nothing wrong with the cast prop, I just like real brass. The pitch is much deeper (54.3 mm according to the Raboesch site) than the cast prop. Does anyone have any experience with the Raboesch props and a sub of about 34 inches? Will this be too much pitch? And will the increased mass of the brass prop increase the chance of torque roll? Any advice is appreciated.

Odd that you should post
Odd that you should post this about the raboesch props. I logged on to do an inquiry on the board to see if anyone knows where I can get a set of raboesch props for a 1/96 Typhoon with 3/16 shaft holes.
Hope you don't mind my piggybacking your inquiry. Does anyone know where I can get some?
Thanks

Todd,

Todd,
A couple of us have replaced the stock 2 blade nylon props on our Dumas Akulas (33 inches) with Raboesch brass ones. Our props are 40 mm dia. x 41 mm pitch, 6 blade, and produce no noticable torque roll. Your 53 x 54.3 mm prop will offer a little more "bite" to the water than mine does (particularly with the extra blade), but with sufficient ballast weight located low in the hull, I wouldn't expect torque roll to be excessive.
What I would be more concerned about would be motor loading. My 40mm prop is turned by a Graupner Speed 400 motor through a 3]http://www.subcommittee.com/forum/icon_smile.gif[/img]sigpic
