    Polyester resin f'glass strips

    Gents,

Any one know of a source for strips 1/2" W x 1/16" T X 2' OR 3' long? Making them myself is not an option.

    TIA,

    Bill

Does it have to be polyester resin? Epoxy glass sheet is readily available and easily sliced into strips.

Just keeping with the OTW original material. I won't be doing any converting sheets into strips. Don't have the facilities. That's why I'm looking for pre-made, the least I have to do, the better!

I wouldnt expect any advantage in using polyester over epoxy, the bonds will still be mechanical rather than chemical, as the hull is in a cured state. It's very difficult to find ready moulded polyester based GF sheet, but easy to find epoxy glass sheet, which is why I suggested that.

You need nothing fancy to cut strips, just a Dremel with an abrasive cutting disc, and a simple fence to keep the line straight.

That's the facilities part. My basement and workroom have been demo'd for remodeling. I have really limited space in and on which to work.

Take it outside to cut it? Good idea anyway as cutting glassfibre creates instant itching powder, and it's amazing where it can end up!

How will you manage with the rest of the boat if you're struggling to slice up a couple of strips of material?
