I'm not going to meet my goal of Sept 16. Life is just getting in the way. I'll start back up again when I can.

We hope you are still able to make it up for the fun run/picnic!

Haven't got to it yet, Rick. I may bring it though so you can help me troubleshoot it.

Theres a handful of them in the 8 balls group, lots of help available at the picnic.

Well, it's been over a year. A bit longer than my 33 day goal. But I've got this beauty on my bench as my winter project.

Below are a few pics of the kit that got deleted from the original post.

                          I'll keep you updated.

My first step is to determine how much ballast I need to get the ship to sit right in the water. This may seem a bit backwards, but I will have ballast (in the form of lead shot) in spaces fore and aft that I won't have easy access to once the boat is fully assembled. So I built a test tank out of some inexpensive poplar boards. Note the drain hole in the north-eastern corner. There's a valve on the outside that connects to a 50 foot silicone hose that I have, used to drain and fill my fish tanks from a distance. I filled all the seams with silicone, and will let that dry overnight. Tomorrow I will line the inside with a coat of Flex Seal paintable, yeah, the stuff you see on tv. I've used it to seal cracks in my basement and it works like a dream. wish it smelled as good, though! Yuk! While waiting for all that stuff to cure, tomorrow I will do a little surface work on the hull.

Didn't just want to test in one of your fish tanks? 8-)

This test box should work as a travel box too...
