Where can I buy these magnetic couplers? I have contacted several vendors without finding a source

Dave Merriman makes them. Have a word with Bob Martin.

Or you can make your own.
      ---------------
Here I am in the process of making connector for Skipjack sail planes.
      Size reference.....brass rod is 1/8".
This is from a year or two back.

Those look pretty slick - is the purpose of the magnet to transfer the motion through a WTC, or is it to give a failsafe if something jams? I have not seen them in action before (or if I did I didn't know what I was looking at).

        Thanks!

In this application, they are the quick connection to the sail planes that are mounted in the sail of the Skipjack.
The control rod comes out the back of the cylinder and moves the long rod that sits on top of the cylinder to the sail.
The long rod is held in place with a velcro strap that is loose so the rod can move up and down about 1" and side ways about 1".
When the top hull half is put in place, I move the sail planes by hand and I can fell the magnets take hold.
I have never had them come a part during operation.
If they have, they connected back up.

When the hull is opened up, these magnets will disconnect and let the top half of the hull be set aside.

The rear planes and rudders are connected with wheel collars and set screws.

I looked through my build log and I do not see any photos of this linkage in place.
I will have the boat open to prepare it for the next run in January.
I will be sure to take photos of the linkage as it is used in the Skipjack.
