NiCd versus NiMh Charging

I picked up a NOS JR radio and the Tx battery (NiCd) is weak from age...LOL!

There are plenty of new NiMh battery packs on eBay.

So the question is, even though a full-size charger's settings are different for NiMh's, can you safely use the original radio NiCd trickle charger to trickle charge a NiMh pack?

No problem using such a charger. It's the fast delta peak type charging you need to be wary of. Nicads are more tolerant of high current charging which can damage Nimh. However trickle charging is much kinder. The only difference is that the Nimh batteries will take longer to charge as they will have a higher capacity.
