TK-17 was the 5th of six Typhoon class boats to enter service. Renamed the Arkhangelsk, she was decommissioned in 2006.

575' in length, 75' at the beam, and displacing 48,000 tons submerged.

This is the 1:100 scale kit from Engel.

When the box containing the hull arrived, it stood taller than me!

My goal is to have this boat fully functional and ready for spring trials, i.e. April or May of 2017.

First step is always the worst in my opinion, drilling and filing out the flood vents, of which there are a million on this boat.

Those are beautiful kits, Erich. You're going to love putting it together. My favorite sub (other than the Nautilus, of course!)

By the way: I have already drawn the sail-emblem in CAD. Are You interested in a decal of it?

            Bob,

I'll be referencing two typhoon builds that you documented very heavily. lots of good info for those builds.

The Typhoon was the first sub I ever owned. Back in 1998 when I entered the hobby, I bought a Copeland typhoon from a gentleman in Canada. I was way out of my league, trying to figure out how to properly operate such a beast. Years later it was gutted and now rests in the shed of another SC member.

Actually, Mixvs, I would like a decal. your graphic has the town's name above, mine does not, and it does appear on the tk-17

                      Okilidokili. Thanks.
What about the white markings? I need to finish them anyway for my 1/350 Typhoon.

do you mean the cyrillic 'arkangel'isk" above the crest? yes, that should included

No, I mean waterline, white renderings, "sea level marks", escape hatch...., hull number (for Sewerstal, TK-208, TK-12, TK-13).

I think I can finish all (need to fill the sheet) in November. I'll keep You informed with PMs.

                              cheers Alex
