I have started a r/c conversion of the the Kilo.
I have a home made 10 inch WTC. This WTC is 90% complete.
the hull is 50% complete. I have not worked on the sub in qutie some time. I'd post some pictures if I knew how.
I have planned to build the kit before and try to install a motor but. The project was cancelled when I started working on my Alfa, can anyone tell me the dimensions of the model?
Who knows? i might think of starting the project again someday!
Thanks for the KobeSubClub web page.
The pictures of there success make me want to start up on my Kilo project.
Looks like they still have enough room for a rcabs ballast system if a infant size blood pressure bladder could be used.
Thoughts for my version of the model is to use a water pump for propulsion. One pump sending water jets through different openings for steering up-down, starboard-port. The routing of the jets through a manifold valve rotated by one servo. Using two channel RC car radio for control.
Enough with my mad scientist ideas and start with a kiss dynamic diver
yep, I was busy on that kilo.
I made a WTC, which failed.
I made the endcaps from solid brass.
The thing worked allright 50% of the time,
i.e. it only went down...
My lathe is mothballed, after moving house I will
make plastic endcaps.
Here is a photo of Mark Jones' static Tumpeter Kilo RC conversion and WTC. I wish we could get him to do a SCR article on how he does it. How about it Mark?
Actually, the Kobe Sub Club is explaining features of the new mini-WTC. Considering the high price of large sub models, Kilo plastic model with New WTC is a great introductory sub for beginners.
Here's what they say;
Overall view of mini-WTC,
Mini-WTC in Kilo model,
ABS plastic servo mount,
Industrial standard reduction gear,
G4 water seal,
This Kilo could be an affordable starter kit.
(maybe some vendor could make a dynamic-only
wtc, or just the endcaps...)
meanwhile I am just now taking apart a brand new
automatic toothbrush.
It is watertight, has a removable cap, high torque
motor and contactless recharger.
does that sound usable or not ?
Now if I could only get the axle to turn instead of
wobble...
